Rental terms

The service provider is DOT Rent a Car, Ul. Slobode 10, 81000 Podgorica, Montenegro.

The rental agreement is concluded between you and us, in writing, at vehicle handover. A booking on the website is a rental request that we confirm by phone, WhatsApp or email.

• A booking is not binding until we confirm it. We confirm within 24 hours at the latest, and usually within a few hours in season.

• The price shown at the time of booking is binding on us, except in the case of an obvious technical error.

• If the requested vehicle becomes unavailable, we will offer a vehicle of the same or higher class at the same price, or cancel free of charge.

• Minimum driver age is 21 with at least 1 year of driving experience. Stricter conditions may apply to higher-class vehicles.

• A valid driving licence is required. For licences not issued in Montenegro, the EU or the EEA, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is also required.

• A passport or ID card is required at pickup.

• Only drivers named in the agreement may drive the vehicle. Additional drivers must be registered in advance.

• Prices are in euros (EUR) per rental day. A rental day is 24 hours from the time of pickup.

• Included: third-party liability insurance, basic collision cover with excess, unlimited mileage where stated on the vehicle page, scheduled servicing, and road vignettes where applicable.

• Not included: fuel, tolls, traffic fines, parking, extra equipment and additional insurance.

• Payment is made at pickup, in cash or by card. We do not charge online.

• Returning more than 1 hour after the agreed time is charged as an additional rental day.

• The deposit is paid at pickup and refunded in full when the vehicle is returned in the same condition. The amount depends on the vehicle and is stated on the vehicle page.

• Basic collision cover applies with a Customer excess. Full insurance removes the excess for most cases.

• Full insurance does not cover: damage to tyres, rims, undercarriage, glass and interior; loss of keys and documents; damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, on unpaved roads, or outside the permitted territory.

• Pickup is available at our office (Ul. Slobode 10, Podgorica) or by delivery to an agreed location.

• Delivery and collection at Tivat and Podgorica airports, and in Budva, Kotor, Bar, Herceg Novi and Ulcinj, are available per the current delivery price list.

• We operate 00–24 / 7 dana — arrivals and departures outside usual hours are arranged with prior notice.

• The vehicle is handed over with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. Missing fuel is charged at market price plus a refuelling fee.

• The vehicle is handed over clean. Returning an excessively dirty vehicle (sand, stains, pet hair, smoke) incurs a deep-cleaning fee.

• Drive in accordance with Montenegrin road traffic law and the law of any country you are in.

• Prohibited: handing the vehicle to third parties, subletting, carrying passengers or goods for hire, racing or competitions, towing other vehicles, and driving on unpaved roads.

• Smoking in the vehicle is prohibited.

• In the event of an accident, theft or damage you must immediately call the police (122) and us on +382 67 224 344. Without a police report, insurance does not cover the damage.

• Report any fault or warning light immediately — continuing to drive with a known fault transfers liability for the resulting damage to the Customer.

• Cancellation at least 48 hours before pickup is free of charge.

• Cancellation within 48 hours, or failure to appear at pickup (no-show), is charged at one rental day.

• Changing dates or vehicle is free of charge, subject to availability.

• Shortening the rental after pickup does not entitle you to a refund for unused days.

• Taking the vehicle out of Montenegro is permitted only with our prior written consent and additional cross-border insurance (Green Card).

• Crossing the border without our consent is a material breach — insurance is void and the Customer is liable for the full value of any damage.

• You are liable for traffic fines, tolls and parking charges incurred during the rental period, including those served on us after the vehicle is returned.

• You are liable for damage up to the excess amount, or in full in cases not covered by insurance.

• We are not liable for personal belongings left in the vehicle, nor for indirect losses (missed flights, bookings, lost earnings).

• In the event of a mechanical failure that is not your fault, we will provide a replacement vehicle as soon as possible or refund the unused days.

We process your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Montenegrin Personal Data Protection Act.

These Terms are governed by the law of Montenegro. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the competent court in Podgorica.
