Bar by car — the southern coast within reach
Bar has the most sunny days on the coast and is the best base for the south: Old Bar, Ulcinj, Velika Plaža and Lake Skadar are all under an hour's drive. From DOT's Podgorica office to Bar is about 55 km through the Sozina tunnel — 45 minutes.
We bring the car to your hotel, apartment, the port or the railway station in Bar. If you're arriving by ferry from Bari or by train from Belgrade, we time the hand-over to your arrival.
Ferry and border
Ferries run from the port of Bar to Bari in Italy. A rental car may go on the ferry and leave Montenegro only with our prior consent and a Green Card — tell us when you book. The same goes for Albania: the Sukobin crossing near Ulcinj is about 40 km from Bar.
Parking in Bar
Along the promenade and at Topolica parking is in paid zones, paid by SMS. Old Bar has a car park below the fortress, but it fills fast on summer evenings — get there by 18:00. There's more space in Šušanj and Žukotrlica than in the centre.

Built-up areas, open roads and the motorway. Dipped headlights are required in daylight too, and speed cameras usually sit at town entrances.

The only toll, on the Podgorica — Bar route. The Smokovac — Mateševo motorway section is currently free.
