What pick-up at Podgorica Airport looks like
Podgorica Airport (TGD) is small, with a single terminal — it's about fifty steps from the baggage belt to the exit. A DOT driver waits for you in the car park right in front of the terminal with your name on a sign; we check the car together, photograph its condition, sign the contract and you're off. The whole hand-over takes about ten minutes.
Our office is in Podgorica, 12 km from the airport, so for DOT an airport hand-over isn't a trip, it's routine. We track your flight number: if the plane is an hour or three late, we wait — with no late-arrival fee.
Late-night and early flights
Many low-cost flights into Podgorica land late in the evening or after midnight, when the desks in the terminal have closed. DOT hands over cars 24/7, so you don't have to wait until morning or pay for a taxi into town. The same goes for dawn departures — we agree the time the day before.
Returning the car at the airport
Come to the car park in front of the terminal 15 minutes before the agreed time, and at least two hours before your flight. We check the car and the fuel, and return your deposit if you left one. If you're returning late at night, send us a message when you set off and we'll be there.
The nearest fuel station is on the Golubovci — Podgorica road, a few minutes from the airport; fill up there so you don't pay the difference.
Onwards from the airport
From the airport, central Podgorica is 15 minutes, the sea at Sutomore 35, Budva about an hour and a quarter, and Kolašin an hour and a half. If you're staying in the north, the Smokovac — Mateševo motorway starts on the far side of the city and shortens the drive to Kolašin.

Montenegro in numbers — for drivers
Six numbers DOT repeats to guests most often at hand-over. Remember them and your trip will run without fines or surprises.
Built-up areas, open roads and the motorway. Dipped headlights are required in daylight too, and speed cameras usually sit at town entrances.
The limit is so low that the only safe rule is: if you drive, you don't drink. Fines for going over are steep.
The only toll, on the Podgorica — Bar route. The Smokovac — Mateševo motorway section is currently free.
Paid zones in Budva, Kotor, Tivat and Bar, paid by SMS or at a meter. Old towns are pedestrian zones.
Rough 2026 price. Stations are plentiful on the coast; towards Žabljak and Durmitor, fill up in good time.
Police 122, ambulance 124, roadside help 19807. For anything about the car, contact DOT directly, 24/7.
